The Tamil Literary Garden is unique in being the only one in the world dedicated to the promotion of Tamil internationally. Though Tamil is an ancient language, one of the oldest in the world with significance to global literature, scant little has been done to date to actively promote or celebrate the language and contemporary authors who have contributed to its growth. Hence the focus of this organization is on supporting translation of Tamil literature, scholarship to students, revival of ancient Tamil Theatre, sponsoring lecture series, commissioning publications, book launches, and workshops. In its annual, globally awaited awards ceremony Tamil Literary Garden recognizes significant achievements in Tamil in a number of genres and fields including Lifetime Achievement in Tamil. Lifetime Achievement Award in Tamil

The Tamil Literary Garden is a charitable organization registered in Toronto and devoted to the promotion of literary activities in Tamil, both nationally and internationally. Among its many activities, it awards, annually, a Lifetime Achievement Award for a distinguished person who has, over a period of several years, made a significant contribution to the growth or study of Tamil language and literature during his or her career. The annual award known as Iyal Virudhu is not confined to any country, region or genre and consists of a plaque and a cash prize of $2,500.00 (Canadian). The award follows the annual lecture series held each year for which a Fund has been set up at the University of Toronto. The venue and the exact date of the award ceremony will be announced in the media and on the website. The decision of the Awards Committee set up by the Tamil Literary Garden consisting of international judges is final.

வாழ்நாள் தமிழ் இலக்கிய சாதனை விருது.

கனடாவில், அறக்கொடை நிறுவனமாகப் பதிவுசெய்யப்பட்ட தமிழ் இலக்கியத் தோட்டம் உலகெங்கும் பரந்திருக்கும் தமிழை வளர்ப்பதற்காக ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்ட ஓர் அமைப்பாகும். இது வருடா வருடம் வாழ்நாள் தமிழ் கல்வி, இலக்கிய சாதனைகளுக்காக உலகத்தின் மேன்மையான சேவையாளர் ஒருவரை தேர்வு செய்து அவருக்கு விருது வழங்கும். இந்த விருது பாராட்டுக் கேடயமும், 2500 கனடிய டொலர்கள் பணப் பரிசும் கொண்டது. ரொறொன்ரோ பல்கலைக் கழகத்தில், கனடா தமிழ் இலக்கியத் தோட்டத்தால் நிறுவப்பட்ட நிதியத்தின் ஆதரவில் வருடா வருடம் நடைபெறும் உரைத்தொடருடன் இணைந்து இந்த விருது விழாவும் அரங்கேறும். விருது பெற்றவர் பெயர், வழங்கும் இடம், காலம், நேரம் போன்ற விவரங்கள் பத்திரிகைகளிலும், இணையத்தளங்களிலும் அறிவிக்கப்படும். உலகளாவிய அங்கத்தினர்களைக் கொண்ட விருது நடுவர் குழுவின் முடிவு அறுதியானது.
